The strength of every organization is often rooted in one singularity that is common to one another and this is the power of language. Such statement is applicable in any sector, group, community, alliance, or society. Peace can be harnessed through it because understanding one another is easier. Transmission of communications in almost any form is possibly achievable because they understand each other. Speaking in one common language, listening in one common language and expressing thoughts and interests in one common language is a basic foot board towards a singular multitude. By saying this, one can simply talk to one another simply because they understand each other.
Indeed, the basic principle of understanding each other is through a common tongue. Filipinos, though very diverse in languages and ethnical dialects, they still understand each other in one common language - the Filipino language. No wonder why the late President Manuel L. Quezon endorsed so much in using our own language and had even made a proclamation about it. The unification of all Filipinos is possible through the Filipino language. It is our strength and identity. If you will notice, President Noynoy's SONA are delivered and softly spoken in Filipino language. This is because he wants to reach the multitude of public with diverse cultures in a manner easily understood. The Filipino language has become a prerequisite in teachings, even in broadcast medias and printed news.
The simplicity of being united through one language brings empowerment to the world. It gives the people the strength and confidence to deal with others. Filipinos abroad can easily communicate and identify each other through this language. It is like a bond that joins the more than 7,000 islands that forms the Philippine archipelago.Speak Filipino here in Luzon and surely they will understand you in Visayas and Mindanao.
Peace is not the only fruit of unifying cultures through Filipino language. Business enrichment through trade, industry and tourism are also promoted. This is because local tourist can visit places without fear of being totally different from the area because they too speak and understand Filipino. Businesses will boom even in remote areas because commerce will be made possible through one common language. Growth and development of the national economy will rise as a result of united Filipinos, not just by being Filipinos, but by speaking the Filipino language.
The strength of Filipino language is seemingly unbounded. It transcends cultures, crosses ethnic divides and shines every corner of the Philippine archipelago. The Filipino language is strength of every Filipino. It is the core and spirit of being a Filipino and I am proud to be one - Mabuhay!
